First Road Trip

The day after Thanksgiving we loaded everyone up and went to visit family out of state.  It was our first road trip in the bus (our 15 passenger van) and as a family of 8.  Overall it was a good trip, in spite of Thomas getting croupy and keeping me up all night Friday night.  I was exhausted but thankfully he was able to sleep Saturday night.  The new kids got to meet their great-grandparents and some great-aunts and uncles.  When you are adopted you not only get a mom and dad and siblings, you get a whole extended family!

At grandma's house, you have to eat--here are the kids on Friday night after the drive:

John decided that cucumbers aren't so bad to eat, which is a huge step for a boy who refused anything green at first and didn't even like any fruit except bananas.
 Catherine loves cucumbers.
Therese, eating her cucumber ostentatiously.  She nibbles them in tiny bites so I don't think she likes them that much, but she never wants to be left out of anything going on.
I had told John that vegetables make you strong, so here he is showing the muscles he is enhancing by eating cucumber.

The highlight of Saturday was a visit from Donna and her girls.  Hannah and I got to meet them in China and it was wonderful to be able to have lunch with them here in the US.  John was a little goofy part of the time but I think the visit meant a lot to him.  John Francis has known them since he was 9 months old and we can never thank them enough for the love they poured into our little guy while he waited for his forever family.
